Tsutomu Maruyama
Tsutomu MARUYAMA He began his horn studies at the age of 13 with H,WAKATA. Then he studied horn with Yasuyo ITO at Musashino Academia Musicae, from which he graduated in 1986. While a student, he won various solo competitions. In 1985, he appeared as 1st/3rd hornist with Japan Philharmonic Orchestra. In 1991, he won first prize for horn playing in the All Japan Wind and Percussion Competition. Later he went to Geneve, he studied horn with B.Schneider.He had been principal hornist of Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra (1990-2000), and it has enacted the post of guest principal hornist of Japan Philharmonic Orchestra from 2000. Moreover, he is also continuing activity of chamber music and a soloist. He is often appearing also on IHS festival. He is a member of Horn Ensemble “Tsunobue Shyudan”, Custom Wood Quintet and Kioi Synfonietta Tokyo. In addition, He has already several many recordings including the THQ, Tsunobue and horn solo horn with percussion. He has also solo horn on disk “La Renaissance” and “Maruyama's collection of Disney music”.You can listen the recording with ROMERA BRASS mouthpiece on disk “La Renaissance” and “ Elegie Lointaine”.
He is an assosiate professor at Musashino Academia Musicae and has acted as the executive director of JHS. New CD “ Elegie Lointaine” now on sale.
