CARLOS GIL FERRER

Born in Bétera (Valencia). He studies at the Higher Conservatories of Valencia and Madrid, obtaining the titles of Higher Professor of Trombone and Euphonium with an Honor Award in both specialties.

Its main teachers have been Joaquín Vidal Pedrós, Miguel Ángel Tomás Castelló and Gilles Millière.

At the age of 19 he obtained the position of soloist trombone of the Bilbao Orkestra Sinfonikoa by competitive examination. That same year he became a trombone professor at the Royal Conservatory of Music of Madrid and later at the “Teresa Berganza” Professional Conservatory of Music in that same city.

He has collaborated with numerous symphonic ensembles, chamber music groups and Contemporary Music Ensembles: RTVE Orchestra, National Orchestra of Spain, Madrid Symphony Orchestra, Madrid Community Orchestra, “Ciudad de Granada” Orchestra, National Youth Orchestra of Spain, Virtuosos of Moscow, Chamber Orchestra of the Teatre Lliure of Barcelona, ​​Municipal Symphonic Band of Madrid, Royal Chapel of Madrid, Capella de Ministrers, Symphony Orchestra of the Valencian Community “Les Arts”, Spanish Brass-Luur metalls, Quatuor de trombones Millière, Ensemble Espai Sonor, Grup Mixtour, Smash Ensemble etc.

He has given improvement courses and master classes throughout Spain.

He has been invited as a specialist teacher in the Student Orchestra of the Community of Madrid, in the Youth Orchestra of the Region of Murcia, in the Youth Orchestra of the Generalitat Valenciana and in the Youth Orchestra of Andalusia. He is a founding member of the Spanish Trombone Quartet, the “Iberbrass” Brass Quintet and the “Pianobrass” Quartet. With these groups he has performed at numerous festivals: IXth COSICOVA Composers Meeting, XIIth International Concert Series “Ciudad de Navajas”, Sabadell International Music Festival, 'orgue of Santa Maria de Maó (Menorca), 36th International Horn Symposium, etc.

Awarded in the chamber music competitions "City of Manresa", "Montserrat Alavedra" of Terrassa and in the prestigious "Wettbewerbs für Blechbläserquintette" of Moers (Germany).

He has performed as a soloist at numerous festivals: “VII Conference on Computer Science and Musical Electronics” (CDMC), VII Cycle of Contemporary Music at the Vostell Malpartida Museum, “Punto de Encounter” Festival, “Concerts Phonos”, “Spanish Brass Festival”, “ Spanish Brass Surround”, Festival of Contemporary Music of Alicante, Mostra Sonora de Sueca (Valencia), Cycle “5 Segles de Música a L'eliana (Valencia), XIII Conference of Contemporary Music of Córdoba, Festival “Ensems” of Valencia, etc. .. As a member of various symphonic and chamber ensembles he has performed throughout Spain and also in Italy, Portugal, Germany, France, Holland, etc.

He was invited soloist in 2005 by the ICMC (International Conference Music Computer). 

He has premiered works for trombone by Vicente Roncero, Andrés Lewin-Richter, Ricardo Climent, Gabriel Brcnic, Alexandra Gardner, Alejandro Trapero, Voro García, José Vicente Egea, Miguel Guerra, Francisco Zacarés, José Suñer Oriola, Ricardo Mollá and J. R. Pascual Vilaplana..

He has premiered in Spain the Concertino for trombone and amplified ensemble by Aureliano Cattaneo and the work “Contextos” for solo trombone, cello, piano and percussion by Elena Mendoza, both together with the group “Espai sonor” directed by Voro García.

He has 3 published CDs: “Carlos Gil Ferrer, trombone”, with works for trombone and electronics (ARS HARMONICA AH 192), “Carlos Gil: Multaqa” (SB Produccions 016), with the collaboration of SBLM, Ensemble Espai Sonor, 2i2 Quartet and Stomvi Trombone Ensemble and "Sinergies" (SB Produccions 034), together with trumpeter Luis González, Spanish Brass and pianist Pepe Gallego.

He has recorded the “Concertino for trombone and amplified Ensemble” by Aureliano Cattaneo (Stradivarius SVS 33893), Music Minus One II: “Alegrías” for trombone and CD by José Iges (José Iges “Sitting between chairs” / Maria de Alvear World Edition 0010 ) and “Snapdragon” for trombone and electronics by Alexandra Gardner (Innova Recordings 662).

He is currently a trombone teacher at the “José Iturbi” Municipal Conservatory of Valencia and together with Inda Bonet (SBLM) at the “Aula de trombone”(www.auladetrombon.com) .

He is a resident professor at the Spanish Brass-Alzira Festival (www.sbalz.com) and the Brassurround-Torrent Festival (www.brassurround.com).
