12. Una nueva vida para nuestras viejas boquillas

12. A new life for our old mouthpieces

According to my nature as an orderly person, some time ago I read the book "The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up" by Marie Kondo.

Marie believes that things have their own life and energy and that when we no longer use something, the best thing is to find it a new life, since we will surely find someone who will greatly benefit from it. We can sell, donate, or give them away.

This made me think about the conversations I've had many times with musicians who say they have many mouthpieces (even hundreds in some cases) that they no longer use.

How can we have so many unused mouthpieces in a closet?

If we no longer use any of these mouthpieces, why don't we let young students try them? Maybe they aren't as fortunate as we are and can't even afford a single mouthpiece. The idea is, as Marie says, "to follow the natural course of life and return to the wheel of life."

Mouthpieces are made to make music, not to be locked away in a closet.

Thank you Marie for your advice!
